Guarantee of Goods

All recycled/secondhand goods, including engines and gearboxes carry a three months guarantee. If fitted by us, they also carry a full three months parts and labour warranty. All reconditioned/rebuilt goods, including engines and gearboxes, carry a 12 months guarantee unless otherwise specified. They also carry a full 12 months/12,000 miles parts and labour warranty if fitted by us.  If rebuilt engines or gearboxes are supplied via mail order or 'over the counter' then a six months warranty will apply. Rebuilt commercial/van engines/gearboxes carry a 6 months/6,000 miles warranty.
All new goods carry a 12 months guarantee.

Acceptance of Deliveries

IMPORTANT.  All goods must be checked for condition in the presence of the carrier before signing to accept delivery.  Please note: the customers signature confirms that the goods have been received in satisfactory condition.  No insurance claims can be made for damage once goods have been signed for.  If goods are received damaged, the carriers delivery note must be endorsed accordingly and we must be notified immediately.

Returned Goods

All goods correctly supplied and subsequently not required, may only be returned by our agreement.  Returned goods must carry our markings and be returned in the same condition as sent. This includes boxes or packaging goods were received in.  Goods will be subject to a 20% handling charge and customers will be liable for all carriage charges. ECU's and electronic/electric items are non-refundable and non-returnable due to potential damage caused to parts by customers or faulty vehicles.   

Surcharges

Most reconditioned or rebuilt items supplied by Volks-Apart are sold on an exchange basis. These exchange items must be reconditionable and will carry an additional 'surcharge' amount which will be added to your invoice or on-line order in your 'Shopping Basket', when selecting a reconditioned item.
When we receive your old exchange unit, the surcharge amount will be refunded as soon as the item has been checked satisfactorily by our returns department.
Before returning your old unit please ensure that it is in a reconditionable condition. For example, gearbox casings should not be badly damaged or broken. Please note that gearbox casings can also be damaged on the inside, where the bearing is housed. On smaller engines this can wear away virtually completely and is undetectable from outside the gearbox. They can also crack between, and around the casing bolts, which is very hard to detect, especially if the gearbox is dirty. Volks-Apart reserves the right not to refund the surcharge if it is found that any exchange unit is unserviceable.

Delivery Dates

While every effort will be made to keep delivery dates quoted, we cannnot accept liability or responsibility for failure to deliver within the quoted time.  Time shall not be the principal factor of the contract.

Disclaimer

While all care is taken to ensure parts and panels sold are in good order, no responsibility can be accepted for failure of same, or compensation paid, for any loss, damage, injury, labour or recovery charges incurred as a result of goods supplied by us.

Safety critical components

Safety critical items are sold on the understanding that they must be fitted only by specifically trained automotive technicians. No liability can be accepted for malfunction, damage or injury caused by inappropriate fitting of such components.

Important. Please note. When replacement engines are fitted, whether second hand or rebuilt, a new cam/timing tensioner kit, belts, oil, oil filter and spark plugs must be fitted. Damage caused as a result of failing to follow this instruction will void all guarantees. All engines and gearboxes are supplied drained of all fluids. Engines are sold 'bare' without any ancillary parts. Any ancillary parts 'left on' a recycled/secondhand engine will not be covered by warranty. Warranty excludes all gaskets, oils, seals, cam, timing and fan belts. Damage caused by misuse, improper fitting, neglect and/or continued use will invalidate all terms and conditions. 

  TERMS OF WARRANTY FOR RE-BUILT ENGINES AND GEARBOXES   

   All goods and work carried out by Volks-Apart are sold subject to the terms and conditions of the following warranty:- 

         1.     This warranty applies for whichever of the following periods is shorter: 

         a)     12 months from the date of sale, if fitted by Volks-Apart or six months if not.  

     b)     until the vehicle has covered 12,000 miles since installation if fitted by Volks-Apart or 6,000 miles if not.    

2.     During the period of warranty, Volks-Apart will make good any defect free of labour charge (if fitted by Volks-Apart), so long as:-  

a)     the defect is not caused either by misuse, neglect, accident, racing or speed trials, or by any modification, alteration, repair or attempted repair except for such as may have been carried out by Volks-Apart or by another person with Volks-Apart’s written consent.  

b)     the defect is reported to Volks-Apart by telephone immediately the defect appears and confirmed in writing.   

c)      the engine or gearbox must, as soon as practicable, be returned to Volks-Apart for examination and for any necessary repair or replacement within the terms of this warranty. 

d) the vehicle must have had our 600 mile oil and filter change and engine check.

3.     In the event of any disagreement between the owner and Volks-Apart as to the nature or extent of the work for which Volks-Apart is liable under the terms of this warranty, the dispute may be resolved by an independent engineer to be agreed upon between the parties, the fees for such an independent engineer to be borne equally by the owner and Volks-Apart. Alternatively, the matter can be dealt with by seeking redress in the Courts.   

4.     Volks-Apart shall not be responsible for payment for any work or materials supplied, other than with Volks-Aparts previous express written consent.  

5.     Persons dealing with the goods supplied by Volks-Apart are not agents of ours and have no right or authority to bind Volks-Apart in any way, nor to assume on its behalf any obligations, expressed or implied.  

6.     No variation or modification of the terms of this warranty shall be valid or binding unless it is in writing, signed by a responsible and authorised employee of Volks-Apart. 

7.     The owner is responsible for the cost of maintenance items including, but not limited to, anti-freeze, filters, elements and belts, replaced during warranty repairs.  

8.     During the period of this warranty, should a claim for excessive oil consumption be made, the owner must be prepared to supply adequate information to show that oil consumption was exceeding the manufacturers specification.  

       9. Throughout the period of this warranty, the owner shall maintain and service the vehicle in accordance with the original manufacturers recommendation.  

     10. Nothing in the above warranty affects the customers statutory rights.

     11.All warranty work must be returned to us at customers own cost. If engine/gearbox abuse is noted the warranty will be void. Please be aware that non-standard wheels and suspension can void your warranty on gearboxes. This is in line with main dealer standard practice. 

   12. Please note if any engine or gearbox has been dismantaled in any way warranty will be void.
